Thoughts on the evening's televisual offerings

- In mediaeval times, it was believed that the pelican fed its young with its own blood; by extension, it came to represent Christ (there's a particularly terrifying sculpture of one in the oldest court of Corpus Christi, Cambridge). I wonder if modern christians would be tempted to do likewise with that rather Cthulhoid limbless amphibian which feeds its own skin to its young?
- Lungfish rock. Giant salamanders also rock, but lungfish rock more.
- I am very glad I am not a frog. Childcare is vexing enough without having to carry the kids inside your hips (leaving the slow ones to die), or feeding children their unfertilised potential siblings.
- Karma is so going to come kick our backsides over Life in Cold Blood. Bad enough last week, when they nicked all the lizard's bling and gave it to a poor lizard, to show what materialist hos the lizard WAGS were. But now the golden frog! The plague is coming, the population is shrinking...and suddenly these strange apparitions appear. Doppelgangers, plastic people, simulations and replicants. And then the entire population is abducted off to live in jars! That's a horror story. Despite, or maybe even more so because of, the good intentions behind it.

Clearly, were this a dedicated frogblog, I would have had to go into rather more detail. Oh man, the giant frog digging a channel for his tadpoles to escape to safety down, he was ace.

There were a puzzling number of car and life insurance ads, it's true - but I reckon that's 'cos the young folk are all watching it on Myspace and then friending it so they get to be extras in the party scenes. And who can blame them?

EXACTLY! I was thinking just this. It is very, very well written but it is kinda: Please, young people, please be like this, be cool and witty and clever and beautiful and take loads of drugs and have loads of sex. Most young people are not any of those things. I certainly wasn't. :(

Series one of Skins focused on each one and their respective families, and Maxie was missed out. Maybe they're giving him two to make up.

There is some young persons' band on TV now singing about Mary Jane and Lois Lane. I might go to bed.

Wild guess: the song does not cover the recent development whereby Spider-Man sold his marriage to Mary Jane to Mephisto to save Aunt May.

Sid's mobile is the first time I recall seeing her name written down, and that said Effie, didn't it?
