My boss just described me as 'exemplary' and gave me more money. He knows his stuff, does my boss.

Arab Strap are a puzzling band, aren't they? I do like them, but really can't find them a suitable niche in my life. Normally, with something where the words are the main interest, such as Momus, I'll listen to them while ironing, or while getting ready in the morning. But you can't iron to a band who look like tramps, and you can't get ready to face the world with music that makes you want to return to bed with a bottle of vodka.

Aye. Since I'm so exemplary, perhaps I should forward the spare invite codes to my colleagues?

yip. btw - is it too early to make a cover version of Ladytron? I have some alternative chords in mind for 'The Way That I Found You'...

Well Ladytron have themselves covered Tweet's Oops (Oh My)which came out more recently than their first album, so I reckon that's perfectly fair.

I saw Arab Strap supporting the TIndersticks ages ago in Lisbon and really didn't like them... A friend tried to get me into them but failed miserably

I have had two people now tell me when they hear Arab Strap they think of me. I should worry really.

I very much doubt anyone, drunk Ellen included, has ever told either Arab Strap that they should be a model.

I think it was more the whole "drunk bitter scotsman" thing. At least I hope it was.

Arab Strap are very odd. Do you like that one about finding his wife's secret sex diary? It scares me a bit.

If you've got nothing to hide, why hide it?

The Love Detective? Yeah, that's ace. And *almost* danceable too, unlike most of their stuff. They are scary, but mainly for the moments when you recognise yourself in it. Or is that just me?

No. It's definitely not just you. The reason that particular song scares me is that I could have written it. (Or at least my paranoid side could have) :(

saw them in Belfast two weeks before Elephant Shoe came out. Mr Laverne spent the entire length of one song staring into my eyes. Every time I looked, there he was. Someone shouted for 1471 and Aidan's eyes popped out of his head. He asked 'How the fuck d'you know about that?', oblivious to the fact that there was a review in that week's NME.
Although I do rate them, I never ever listen to the one promo album I have, and as such never feel like getting the other stuff. Dull by association with Mogwai & the Delgados, perhaps.
