So I managed to bolt another chunk on to my mindmap of London; now I know how Holland Park connects to Ladbroke Grove to Portobello Road to Notting Hill to Kensington to Hyde Park, which brings me back to the fields I know. Holland Park has an awful lot of private squares, doesn't it? I have always thought of these as little enchanted kingdoms, and today I (legitimately) had lunch in one - not a Western one, one near Regent's Park. Lovely as it was, it was disappointingly like a smaller, neater, slightly quieter park, and entirely devoid of waiters with champagne, gambolling nymphs or anything which would quite pass muster as a grotto.

Could this be the worst book ever? Touched by Evil: The True Story of the Psychic Powers That Saved Me from a Life of Abuse.

Sainsbury's have started doing what is effectively quarter-skimmed milk, with orange caps, for those who find skimmed too watery and semi-skimmed too fattening. I suspect this is somewhat pointless, yet still strangely brilliant in a decadent late-capitalism sort of way.

Either you've got a fond uncle working high in their dairy secretariat, or there are millions like you.

I saw that last week! Not sure about the use of the colour orange though. I like skimmed milk myself, which is 0.1% fat or something. I thought the orange milk was lower than that at first and I got all excited. Still, I suppose it's a good idea. Probably would have been better to have a milk between semi and full fat as it's harder for people to go from one to the other. Once you get to semi, the move to skimed isn't so bad.

Orange did seem a bit close to red for clarity's sake...but then I can't really think what other colour would be more distinct, without being too showy.

Over here in America we have a brand called SkimPlus, with a kind of purple cap, which is more or less the same thing -- and which I find completely ideal, as I'm lactose-intolerant but equally sickened by pouring what amounts to white water on my cornflakes.

Just so long as there's no form of international exchange scheme for them, because orange and purple caps next to each other - that wouldn't be good.

I was brought up on semi-skimmed, but can't stand skimmed milk at all. Full-fat milk is fine on cereal, but I'm not particularly fond of drinking it (and I used to drink a lot of milk. However the adverts lied. I'm not even good enough to play for Accrington Stanley)

Ditto and ditto - do you think we have a case in law?

Get a bike, Alex. It's a fully awesome way of connecting all of london up in your nog.

Bikes are a bit too arterial, a bit too big-picture for my taste. You can't meander on a bike, or at least not safely.
