This really isn't appropriate weather for a fertility festival.

you'll just have to do your reproducing indoors

Or, watch comedy on iPlayer. The gods and the weather may have turned against us, but you can always rely on the BBC.

I am listening to Braxe/Falke and watching the train, I should be studying, or at least catching up on the reading for [secret for now] or at least playing Touch Detective or at LEAST making a cup of tea, but I appear to be in stasis by the window.

Ah

There's a Stephin song about watching trains go by, isn't there? I just thought of that and assumed one of the views from your flat must encompass a railway.

Ditto for Finny P, unsurprisingly. But it is noticeable how each zone into London is slightly warmer than the one outside. Which means the rest of the country probably looks like Alaska.

I have to go to Dartford today. I'm just going out. I may be some time.

It appears to have stopped raining here now. I may even get out of bed, once I've finished watching The Curse of Steptoe.

It is definitely not snowing here in Lovely Borough, half a mile from the river

I have always wondered if the same unimaginative clan of planners were responsible for Borough, Avenue Road up here, and Derby's Traffic Street.
From: [identity profile] msdaccxx.livejournal.com
Were the 9th Century planners? We're dead ancient here in Borough
From: [identity profile] barrysarll.livejournal.com
Yeah, but I'm sure back there loads of places were just called Town or whatever; most of them have at some stage gone for a rebrand. Certainly, areas of London have often changed their name - we may mock estate agent attempts like 'Dulwich borders', but it's an ancient process. And yet, though it all, Borough stayed Borough.
From: [identity profile] msdaccxx.livejournal.com
Yes, I don't know what we've hung onto the name for so long. Maybe because of the market, which has been on the go since at least the 13th century and which was held on the Borough High Street until the the purpose-build market buildings were constructed.

I nearly moved to just off the far side of the Elephant roundabout a year or so ago and was all set to call it North Kennington. Even where I live now has equal claim to being either Elephant or Borough, depending on how aspirational you're feeling, which has led David Shah to dub it SoBo (South Borough). Funny, right, but Phil claims to have seen the term SoBo being used in all serious by estate agents as a shorthand for South Bow, better known to the rest of us as..er..Tower Hamlets.

Even Finsbury Park is now disappearing; Stroud Green is allegedly spreading, perhaps because they don't have the stigma of a mad mosque.

Ditto for Finny P

You just weren't up early enough. I got absolutely covered in the white stuff on the way to work this morning.

It being a bank holiday, I would suggest instead that you were up too damn early, even with double time.

Yesterday I learned of the existence of Mrs Columbo (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mrs_Columbo#Spin-off). This saddens me.

Why is Spring broken Alex? I think I will cry.

Also there is a dead mouse in the kitchen. Would you like some cats?

Date: 2008-03-23 01:50 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] barrysarll.livejournal.com
I think mine have all gone away, did I not tell you? Three dead, and the rest appeared to have moved downstairs. In your face, monotheist downstairs.

Maybe if you offer the mouse as a sacrifice to the spirits of spring they will come back?

Anyway, 'Fragments' = considerably better than 'Adrift', at least.

Was it by writing things? Could you write me some happy things?

It could work. Instead I shouted at ron to take it away. I probably pissed them off way more. Bugger.

I am sleepy. I woke up at 3 and accidently read lost girls. I didn't like Alice. Alice isn't cold like that. :(

I actually quite liked it but I still don't think it it enough for me to watch the next series. JB is a shit actor. And like I said by having two members who effectively cannot die they have distroyed the momentum.

Yeah but this leaves them with the thing for next week, where John can try to get to Jack by destroying what he cares about. The main downside of which is, it will lead to Barrowman EMOTING.

It is sunny now!

Yes it is. Encouragement to stay indoors, drink boozes, eat hot food, central heating comfy bed, snuggly duvet and willing partner. What more do you need for a fertility festival?

What about the naked prancing at stone circles? Try that in this weather and the relevant bits'd drop off!

I'll just leave that for the re-constructionists......
