Now, bear in mind that I think The View are atrocious, and I don't like the way that cocaine is produced, distributed or makes most people act. But still, I read this letter in the NME pursuant to The View's Kyle being busted:
"Kyle mate, wouldn't you get a better high by donating the money you spend on coke to drug agencies in the Dryburgh area of Dundee, who are there to pick up the pieces of the misery and damage caused by that shit?"
And I think: No. No, he really wouldn't.

By way of a reminder, it's The Beautiful & Damned at the Boogaloo tomorrow night. It has an earlier start now (8pm), which should benefit those of you who have made the unaccountable decision not to live in North London. Whether I shall be there myself I do not yet know, as I have what feels like my seventh cold of the year so far; updates on the matter will be available by text or email to interested parties.

I have what feels like my seventh cold of the year so far

You may have caught it off me on Friday - I travelled down with the beginnings of a cold, gave it to [livejournal.com profile] emmelinemay and am currently feeling rotten. Hacking up great globs of green. Awful.

Cuh, bloody plague-ridden foreigners!

Did you get my email, btw?

Possibly got the email, but I wouldn't be able to find out as several applications refuse to work on my computer at the moment. Namely:

azureus
soulseek
firefox
internet explorer.

I can browse using the aol browser, but it won't open up either witha secure connection or that takes too long to load. this includes gmail, for some reason.

So! can you resend it to peacoqpunk@fastmail.fm?

I *may* go to B&D depending on finances and what side of the ennui/whimsy fence I find myself come decision-time. So text me if you plan to go.

I am currently thinking: not. It is cold, I have cold, and I would only lower the tone of the photographs.

That's OK, I am completely broke, tired, and somewhat grumpy - not the mood to go out in.

Became resistant, stopped, and am now wondering whether the whole thing left me weaker in general, whether this has been a particularly bad winter for them, or whether I'm just getting old.

my view is that it has been a particularly virulent winter. I dont normally get many colds, but between september and the end of January i seemd to be almost constantly sick.

The bloke out of t'The View should donate his feckin' money to Cornershop for stealin' Brimful of Asha - chords, melody, guitar sound, the lot.

If he has any change he should get a haircut.

How old do you think The View would have been when Brimful came out?

God! I feel old today!

I can't say I'd noticed much similarity, perhaps just because the View are so resolutely charmless as to obscure the resemblance from me. I shall listen out for it next time, though.

Isn't Brimful Of Asha* just Sweet Jane anyway? Well, slightly.

The View are 19/20. They stayed at my friend Laura's flat about a year ago when they played Wrexham. They were quite sweet.

*Hahaha, I accidentally typed Brimful of Asda before correcting it. Imagine the marketing campaign!

The View are 19/20.

I hope you mean in age, rather than as a mark out of 20...

I hope I did too.

Oh, I did? Marvellous.

Making them about 5 when Cornershop were knocking about. Cornershop were 1993, right?

Ah, Brimful Of Asha was 1997. Ten years ago, eh? Seems longer.

First flurry was around then, but the comeback with 'Brimful of Asha' was 1997.
