The promo of the new single by Siobhan Donaghy That Used To Be In Sugababes. You know those slightly annoying dinky little CD sigles? Well, it's basically one of those except set in a transparent surround which makes it the size of a normal CD. Why did nobody a) think of this sooner or b) show me one, as appropriate?
(You'll notice I haven't mentioned the song contained on this design marvel. There's a reason for that)

So yeah, B Movie - top fun. Timed my arrival about right, avoiding almost all of the Hellish overcrowding caused by the Water Rats promoters being double-booking arsewits. Now, bear in mind that while I was deliberating whether to go out or not, I was on LJ and [livejournal.com profile] publicansdecoy asked for words of wisdom from a song, any song. And I chose the chorus of New Model Army's 'Vengeance', then thought - I only have that on tape and I've no idea where, and I'd love to hear it right now. First song that plays after I manage to get into the dancing area? 'Vengeance'. Good start to a good night.
And many goth favourites, eighties classics and early nineties indie gems later, the truly life-affirming sight of a pregnant woman with a fag on, a pint and her tongue down another girl's throat. Every self-appointed parenting expert in the land would shriek themselves into a coma at the sight, but you just know that kid's going to have a more entertaining life than little Tarquin and Jemima whose mummy-to-be was eating macrobiotically from some time before their oh-so-carefully planned conception.

It's not unusual to see the next day's paper on sale after an evening out in London (though the first time it happened, my poor old provincial self thought there'd been a timeslip) but normally the Saturdays (the only one I buy) are missing the crucial glossy sections. Not last night. So now I can read today's paper over breakfast in my pyjamas, which I think qualifies as Result. I even got to leave the sport section on the nightbus, where it doubtless entertained a bored simpleton, or maybe even found higher use as an improvised duvet or vomrag.

All of the singles from Muse's first album were like that!

Yes, they've been around a while; I've got some CD singles from the third Electronic album (1999) which do the same thing.

Hah, was just about to say that one. Also, Hot Hot Heat's Knock Knock Knock EP is the same.

Well done with the Sport section. Mine is always instant recycling pile material, but I'd rather not have to bring it home at all.

Coincidentally, the Scarlet Blonde CD I have is that mini type.

Same here, usually - though at Pembroke I would often bump into someone who'd appreciate it on my way back to my room. I suppose I could just try offering it to random passers-by on Stroud Green Road.

I rather suspect you'll regret missing the Scarlet Blonde shoot when you see what you could have won...
