Mildmay library may not have the most salubrious surroundings of all Islington's libraries, but blow me, the size of the comics collection here is really something. Between this and having just picked up several weeks' worth at Gosh, I can see myself getting rather distracted from the final third of Quicksilver, gripping though it is (and my apologies to the book for all the vitriol I directed at it over the lame skit about how Englishmen would never take to this 'tea' beverage; it was very weak, but I should have trusted Neal Stephenson enough to know that it was only a passing glitch).

Today looks to be the day that the people of London finally click that it is in fact summer, and start sitting on any grassy area in their droves, leading to some tutting from those of us who've been doing likewise on fine days for at least a month. But really, who could ever be jealous of London? She's hardly the most chaste of cities. And thank heavens for that, because it's those that apparently are, like Paris, that manage the greatest betrayals.

After falling into the first two episodes by mistake, I've given up on Lost again; at least the relapse didn't last as long as the original habit. Locke's combover almost kept me in, though.

There's a song about Theda Bara? Ace...

I feel I should probably watch one of her filums but I don't think many survive.

And silent films, even when they do survive, can be a bit of a cow to find.

I strongly suspect that you would like The Hot Puppies in general. Not that I wish to stereotype you as liking shouty grrrl indiepop but...well, you do. ;p

Well yes. :P

I never saw Paris as particularly chaste...

Oh, but it's so *planned* and so *coherent* and so centrally governed, and it looks so very proper and prim...but then it spreads its legs for the Germans. London's quite happily and blatantly seeing everyone who takes its fancy...Paris pretends to be above all that, but then cleans out the joint account and leaves you for your worst enemy.

I find that quite fun though, like it has something dark hidden inside.

But I will always love london more than anything in the world, it's mine. :D

Diary date change - my birthday picnic date change to the 17th! But wardytron is also inconveniently doing bonving that day, so you might want to discount birthday in favour of that, oh, I just don't KNOW, either way OK though. Also, beer on 21 June which is my actual birthday which you may be aware of.

Well done on SEEING SENSE abt LOST. If you want I can tell you what actually happens...

You're so wrong about Lost, but I do empathise with you. Get them en masse and watch them in rapid succession - I guarantee you'll feel differently.

But...even after watching and enjoying the first two, the thought of switching to E4 for the third was just no, too much.

Only because it's out of your control, and you know you'll have a two-week wait until you're drip fed another tantalizing morsel. It hurts, but it hurts so good.

I've got quite enough on my plate waiting for the next book of A Song Of Ice And Fire after racing through the first five far quicker than was wise.

Oh last week's American episode of Lost had the best ending yet. I'm downloading last night's new episode while I'm at work today and can't wait to watch it.

You'd have ages to wait anyway, it was the twentieth episode of the second series!

You should have hailed me! I thought it odd that I'd seen so many people today and not one I knew. I'd never spotted that enclosure open before, so I sat there and read the first issue of 52 (I judge it: promising).

You should hit up the owl country residents for lunch at times like these, being as I was a mere 50 metres from there whilst on my lunchtime toddle.

When I'm a-wandering, I prefer to leave my meetings to chance and/or fate. Though obv I can wander to or from an arranged lunch.
