I love Pimlico, especially when the winter sun is fading from its bone-hued facades. But let it seduce you, wander down that road whose opening looks so poetic, and you'll usually find yourself confronted with some hideous sixties excrescence. You can never possess Pimlico, only be happy with the moments for which it happens to coincide with your path.
That's an observation rather than a heavy-handed allegory, though I'm aware it does sound remarkably like the latter.

Is anything of interest happening this Saturday? I suspect I've forgotten to add something to my diary.

In parts, very posh. But then those streets are cheek-by-jowl with really scuzzy high-rise blocks. Same goes for St John's Wood - in many ways I think it's a good thing, as compared to the more rigid social zoning which goes on in, say, many American cities.

it's like that all over london!
and i agree with you - it's much much better than in birmingham, where there was a huge area called Ladywood which seemed to be miles and miles of a huge falling down estate, and where the posh southern bits are just for rich people.

I like it when Barry writes as though [livejournal.com profile] peacockpunk's got hold of his password again. Barry, more writing as though [livejournal.com profile] peacockpunk's got hold of your password again, please.

Lovely stuff. If this deft wordplay is flying over the heads of some of [livejournal.com profile] barrysarll's readers, what Barry is implying is that [livejournal.com profile] peacockpunk has got hold if his c0ck, again.

I am sure your services are appreciated by a younger generation who have grown up with DVD commentary tracks to explain the nuanced and complex plot of, eg, Home Alone.

I preferred it when he wrote as though [livejournal.com profile] wardytron had got hold of his password i.e. in the style of Alfie Moon.

Hang on, surely it was Art Brut who performed 'Pimlico' at that show? I remember this because Eddie annoyed me by altering one of my very favourite lyrics ever.

Oh bugger, yes it was; but Devant was grinning proudly very nearby and I was a bit drunken. Easily confused if you are a cretin.
