"You cannot buy one — the church outlawed the sale of indulgences in 1567 — but charitable contributions, combined with other acts, can help you earn one." Including donations to Church-run charities, presumably. Whose funds can then eg help the priests buy lube for the choirboys - it's the gift that keeps on giving!
