Stayed late at work last night responding to mail from irate communists over this week's listings. The mail allegedly came from Che Guevara. I'm flattered that he has come back from the dead specifically to diss my work.

Tried to watch Scottish suicide-com Wilbur Wants To Kill Himself last night. Couldn't decide if I liked it or not, eventually decided that the Nighty Night and schmaltz elements outweighed the resonances of Black Books and Fifteen Storeys High and abandoned ship. Instead decided to put a few breakdown albums in the stereo, open some red and read Grant Morrison's The Filth in one sitting at last. It certainly makes more sense that way but I think I'd still class it as one of his minor works; I've none of the sense that my head has been rebuilt which similar sessions with The Invisibles, Animal Man or Doom Patrol gave me.

For all my moaning, I am slightly disappointed in the popularity of LJ fvckedness=10 in yesterday's poll. Surely if fvckedness=10 then you wouldn't even have been able to read the poll, much less complete it? Still, it seems to be much better today (I am touching wood as I type this). Huzzah!

No, I had the video from the work film cabinet.

He was quite cute. I liked him but the brother annoyed me.

I was actually expecting a 'touching cloth' joke, tbh.

Aye, I'm a bit slow on the uptake today. Sorry, will try to do better in future.

I'm now curious about what you did to make Che Guevara come back to life. Such powers should be harnessed for world domination the good of all humanity.

If anyone has the London edition of this week's Guardian Guide, they should be able to find the listing that did it.

I liked Wilbur and his doomed efforts at suicide but once we got into the brother getting SPOILER, I just lost interest. As a rule I hate films about that, though there are exceptions eg ivans xtc.

Just finished The Filth myself a couple of days ago. I think it's difficult to love, and it will never occupy the same sort of place in my heart as Doom Patrol does, but it compares rather favourably to The Invisibles in my opinion, which after a promising start just seemed to go on almost forever, getting less and less comprehensible as it did. But maybe I should try reading it again.

If you haven't say down and read The Invisibles in one day, then yes, it is pretty incoherent. Do that and suddenly it's magic. Literally. Though it also helps to have the collected edition of Volume 3, with the art/dialogue revisions, and the companion.
