The vermin were swarming in North London again last night. A 'testimonial match', apparently. More of them were in the yellow than the red this time, from the ones I saw; wonder if that has something to do with the phases of their mating cycle?

On a related note, I learnt this morning that there is a scientific definition of 'cretin'. Hence the presence in a serious text of lines like "Swiss cretins have not been spotted since the 1940s but a belt of cretinism still tracks most of the world's other great mountain ranges". Sadly, I can't find any photos of myxdematous cretins online but trust me on this one: Yours.

On an unrelated note, happy birthday to [livejournal.com profile] insecuregoddess and her breasts, though presumably they're somewhat younger than she is.

A post on the wonder of The Napoleon of Notting Hill may follow at some point once I have written barbed missives to Vodafone and freed some room in my prose systems for beauty.

The insult "crétin des Alpes" is sometimes still used in France. The illustrations in old-school encyclopedias were a thing of joy...

Apparently goitres are actually quite handy, especially if you're pregnant.

For all their sins I don't think we can accuse the footballists of insularity, given the only player whose name and face I know seems to be French.

Or are you accusing Pippa's breasts of a Little England mentality?

Pete and Bob were in the same pub as us on Sunday, apparently, though I didn't spot them.

Had an entire frigging train full of them on the way back last night, some of the inconsiderate bastards wanted to throw my bike out at the next station to make room. Gunts.

Yeah, alternately let's throw some of you lot out - and ideally under the train - to make room for some more air, how's that one strike you?

Grrr.

Alex if you are going to be posting on the Napoleon of Notting Hill, would you mind putting it behind an lj cut. i've just bought it (because you were going on about it so much), and chances are I won't be reading it until the weekend.
I'd appreciate it if you could. Thanks
K

Noted. It's still on hold for the moment, and will likely be an inventory entry...
Blimey, now I've talked you into it I hope you enjoy it or I shall feel terribly guilty.
