Ladies, gentlemen and others - [livejournal.com profile] barrysarll has re-entered the 21st Century.

(Note 1: of all the songs to play in Carphone Warehouse, why 'Enjoy the Silence'?
Note 2: [livejournal.com profile] my_red_dream, your offer of a replacement was appreciated, but the urge to get it all sorted *now* was too strong.)

In small-world-syndrome moment: do you by any chance remember Ben ([livejournal.com profile] kitty_goth from when you were at Cambridge? He says hello, anyway.

He says that he was at Girton, did music journalism, & nearly succeeded in seducing you. (you might, apparently, also remember his friend Katie, [livejournal.com profile] catsgomiaow.)

Ohhh yes. I had a girlfriend at the time who would have been deeply unimpressed, was the main consideration (cf Str8X, prior post). Doing maths, or physics, or something at the border thereof, wasn't he? I thought he'd gone to Wales. Well knock me down with a feather. I remember our first conversation outside the Varsity offices, at a Placebo concert, where he introduced me to his 'other half' and 'other other half' and I asked how that worked.
"Have you ever heard of nonmonogamy?"
"Oh, I wasn't questioning your morals, just your mathematics."

Anyway, yes, Hello! right back.

The world is apparently very small.

You seem to have met some of my friends already :)

Hello!

She's in bloody Tompaulin! Whose early singles I really liked and of whose existence I made Tom Paulin aware!

Whenever I think such things can no longer surprise me, I'm proved wrong.

It doesn't narrow the field at all the mention you may have had a triste with this Ben in question at all, does it now. Blond, apparently less of a goth than you were back then.

Is a triste what goths have instead of a tryst?

Congratulations!!! You win, er, I dunno, but if you come and play Scrabble on Sunday, I might have thought of something by then innit.

But though a great song, this was implicitly anti-mobile!

:o

cunning!

perhaps they thought it would be ironic.

perhaps it was an attempt to counterbalance the horrid sounds being emitted from all the bastid bleeping creatures perched on their shelves.

perhaps they were too hypnotised by the monotony of their surroundings to even notice the song's incongruity...

Them's not the three things you need to be in the GLC! Deduct ten fags.

Some bands to whom I listen, I'd want to be in.
GLC are not one of them.
