My problem with Smoke is that I watched it back to back with its companion piece Blue In The Face and now have no recollection whatsoever of which plots were in which films. But I do recall that my favourite plot was Forrest Whitaker as the hook-handed mechanic, and that it was the last time anyone knew the point of Roseanne. I do not deny that WH was there, but his strand has clearly left no trace upon my mind.
