Safely arrived in Devon, which is looking very grey today. Dear heavens but the festive TV schedules are uninspiring, aren't they? I suppose it doesn't help that I'm looking forward to The Runaway Bride less than I've ever looked forward to any Who episode since, oh, well, since 'Doomsday' I suppose. Hmmmm.

There was a Charlie Brooker Xmas Special last night, if you didn't know. Another one next week, I believe.

Yeah, that was on a couple of nights ago too, and I watched it then. Though this does beg the question, why did I never see fit to remind my readers that Brooker = Godlike Genius, and under my regime would (after a brief chat in which I tell him he was wrong about the Who episode 'Love & Monsters') be made Director General. There has been good stuff over the last week, and by the end of this week there's more; it's just the core festive period (Eve/Day/Boxing) which seems televisually uninspired.

Oh, and I also forgot to mention that the Indelicates covered 'Fairytale of New York' and it was ace.

My life in comments there, marvellous.

I had a quick scan through the TV guide this morning to see I'd just missed something called A Very Barry Christmas. I don't know what it was, but I'm sure the one in my imagination is vastly superior.

Well there's this, or you could give me your password for old times sake?
Thought not.

i dunno, I didn't enjoy it that much. seemed like an excuse to swear on telly.
not that I mind swearing on telly. I just didn't find the whole very funny. Which is a shame, as I really like C Brooker.

BTW - I intend to come to your bday things, sorry I forgot to reply earlier.

So, so correct. Even down to L&M being the only thing he's ever wrong about.

As for "Runaway Bride", I've been distinctly unexcited for months, but have received word that Joe "So fussy he didn't even like the regeneration scene he did" Ahearne thought it was brill. So, you never know.

Although I always find it weird, and slightly disappointing, that when they show excerpts from other programmes the swearing's transmitted, but in Brooker's editorial it gets bleeped. A shame, because the man is a true artist of swearing.

That really does look very poor.

Well, I'm sure by this time (plus a couple of hours) tomorrow, LJ will know the truth of the matter.

And to you! I am in Musbury. I went up the hill earlier, and could tell that the view would have been lovely, if only the air were clear enough for there to be a view at all...
