Do not exceed the stated dosage
Mar. 15th, 2005 03:13 pmFor all the visits I pay to London's libraries, I very seldom sit and read in one. Today I made an exception, and realised why the normal plan makes sense. That said, I can't think of a better way to finish Will Self's 'Dr Mukti' than surrounded by the very human wreckage Self's psychiatrists use as weapons.
Not that I'm in much of a position to talk about human wreckage. I spent last night stuck in the In-Between* and today the crowds are parting for me more out of fear than awe; a sideways glance tells them they don't want these eyes locked on theirs. At times like this what I really need is distraction but our email server's gone flllllllurgh** and taken comment notifications with it, the SB board is tumbleweed central and I can see the structure of the V but not the damn messages. You might think this would mean I'd at least get stuff done but it's never like that; I spend longer trying to will the Net back to life than I would just reading its contents and going about my day.
I really need a drink. Good job I've already got one booked.
*For those who've just joined us, the In-Between is the skin of sleep, that place between the two worlds where you get trapped on the most restless of nights.
**Consider this emblematic of the 'I am a Joey' noise one made satirically inthe pub last night the school playground.
