One day it's all gone, even the sky

When did Wetherspoon's start having widescreen music TV? We're in there for the cheap booze*, man, not the Greatest Rock Anthems! Thence to the Monarch, where the compere is Chris Evans crossed with a 12-year old and the support band are astonishingly generic. But eventually we get what we came for: ( British Sea Power )
Given I really ought not to spend much money this month, it is probably helpful that I am reading a book in which money is the villain. I don't mean in some nebulous metaphorical sense - a sentient currency from the future which has rewritten the Bible just disembowelled a bloke with a four-dimensional spear.
Thank you all for your kind words regarding Love Your Enemies on yesterday's post. I love you all, mostly in a gay way.
It's official - the Beeb has known since January that Eccleston wouldn't stay past the first series. Which reminds me, if any of you retained any shreds of respect for Blair then I hope his appearance on ITV scheduled against Doctor Who will have disabused you of them.
The new Billy Idol album is much better than it has any right to be. The Departure's debut, on the other hand, is exactly what you'd expect, except perhaps for the sheer number of camera references in the lyrics.
Best chance yet that we've found a planet outside our solar system.
Apparently Robbie Williams is a big Grant Morrison fan and attended Grant's recent talk in LA. Clearly I'm going to have to listen to his lyrics more closely next time out.
*Councils should be able to use their powers to set minimum prices for alcoholic drinks in bars to help cut anti-social behaviour, MPs have said. Yeah, because the government is there to encourage cartels, isn't it? Tossers.
**But the main ones are Rupert Brooke,
alastair_k, Alex Kapranos and Withnail.
