Happy Saturnalia, everyone! Two of the family are playing Othello and one's cleaning up, so it's my chance to speak to the nation.

For a time I thought this would be my first one without a stocking, a rite of passage for which I'm not yet ready. I think my favourite present so far is How to be Idle. This book is usually filed under Humour, when really it should be at the front of Self-Help, Philosophy and/or Religion. Then again, in Chichester yesterday one bookshop had Bees of the World under SF, Fantasy & Horror so does that actually mean anything?

We had dinner to a soundtrack of Goldie Lookin' Chain and Franz Ferdinand; that's pretty cool. But this computer's sound files of my sister's band include one entitled '50 Ways To Fvck Your Mother'. That's just wrong. They should be playing London on January 29th; more details if I ever get any.

Just been for a walk along the beach, where I was assailed by my usual feelings of BritishSeaPowerness. I realised that in large part they stem from a subconscious awareness that, in a decade or two, this land will be seabed. I also managed to break something that had survived from the Ice Age. Ooops.

Spider-Man 2 is c0cking awful, isn't it?
