When you've spent the day on Parliament Hill, with a view across the whole of London better even than the one from Suicide Bridge, a move indoors will always be prone to breed claustrophobia. When the indoors in question is the Buffalo Bar, this is doubly so. And when said Buffalo Bar is sold out, it's a real effort to hold it together. As always happens when I'm present the Wilde reading is only by the substitute Davina, but as unexpected bonuses go a one-song Orlando PA by [livejournal.com profile] oneofthose ranks fairly high. Then it's Nemo, their singer not looking very much like a man with a broken collarbone, and David Devant. I love David Devant with a fierce and unrelenting passion but when you're forever trying to find a vantage point where you can actually see them, and one of the speakers is blown, it does rather detract from the experience. Afterwards, the people look good and the music is loud but there's no sign of a dancefloor developing and I am hosting an unwell pokemon, so we flee.

Sunday is [livejournal.com profile] publicansdecoy's Scrabble day in Green Park. As at his prior tournament, I manage a narrow first-round victory over a fellow amateur before being massacred in the quarter-finals by a pro. Though I still maintain that the ineligibility of "aryan" and "veda" is a fvcking scandal. As the day darkens and the weather collapses, the goths, wrestlists and comedians depart and [livejournal.com profile] atommickbrane and I lead the rest of the party to the Cardinal. I am reminded that a light stroll to me constitutes an endurance marathon to many of the straightlords I know. I took much the same route again this morning, as I was obliged to come in by the Piccadilly line; if ever there is a chance I might arrive at work on time, compensatory delays are guaranteed.
