I just had an email headed 'Promiscuous'. Sadly, it was just a plug for a past-deadline and almost certainly rubbish club. C'est la vie.

Yesterday's comments-page chatter with [livejournal.com profile] drasticsturgeon inspired me to listen to Marion's second album again. One of those records that, like Whipping Boy's last album, was more or less condemned to obscurity, a footnote to a band already good as finished. I suppose we should be grateful that it at least got released, unlike the second Menswear or last Shakespear's Sister, but still it's upsetting that songs of such a calibre, so much passion and grace, never got a chance to touch more lives.

Attempted to watch the episode of Spooks I taped on Monday too, except of course it wasn't there, because the tennis ran late. How it managed to do that while being rained off I don't quite understand, but it renewed my determination that all sport should be shifted off terrestrial TV until such time as it learns to respect the schedules. Still, there was the return of The Shield to cheer me up somewhat. In its portrayal of the morally compromised attempting to retain some form of decency, even if only through self-deceit, it's almost on a par with The Sopranos or Oz. I particularly like the way corrupt Mackie and hapless Dutch form a Sadeian misfortunes of virtue/rewards of vice diptych.

Club Motherfvcker and Jet Black clash again on the 18th of this month.
Why is this happening? Does anyone know if there was some compelling reason for JB&B to move back from fourth Friday to third?
It's not as if there are currently so many top-notch clubs in London that clashes are unavoidable. There are plenty of vacant slots on the New Glitter Underground (copyright [livejournal.com profile] suicideally) calendar.

And my jury service is now officially over. What a stillborn anticlimax that turned out to be.

Vaguely reminiscent of time paradox stories or the current series of Angel. Thoroughly Against Nature. Without a single counter-argument that doesn't boil down to squeamishness or Natural Law nonsense. And as such, exactly the sort of news I expect from the 21st Century. Well done, The Future.
